A frustrated wife decided she had enough of her husband’s habitual tardiness. One evening, after waiting yet again for him to come home late, she devised a plan to teach him a lesson. She left a note on the dresser that read:

“I’ve had enough and have left you. Don’t bother coming after me.”

But instead of leaving, she hid under the bed, eager to witness his reaction firsthand.

Shortly after, the husband came home. She heard him rummaging in the kitchen before making his way to the bedroom. Her heart raced as she watched him pick up the note. He read it silently, and after a brief pause, he scribbled something on it.

What happened next was completely unexpected. He picked up his phone and called someone, his voice casual and cheerful.

“She’s finally gone,” he said, the words cutting through the silence like a dagger. “Yeah, I know, about time, right? I’m coming over now. Put on that sexy French nightie. I love you… can’t wait to do all the naughty things you like.”

The woman, still under the bed, was stunned. Her ears burned with rage, her heart pounding as he hung up the phone. She listened in disbelief as he grabbed his keys and left the house, the sound of his car engine fading into the distance.

Shaking with fury and tears streaming down her face, she crawled out from under the bed. She grabbed the note he had written on, desperate to read his response. What she saw made her stop in her tracks:

“I can see your feet. We’re out of bread. Be back in five minutes.”

It turned out her husband was one step ahead of her prank, and the supposed phone call was nothing more than a clever act to teach her a lesson in return.

While the woman’s emotions had been sent on a rollercoaster, the situation ultimately became a humorous reminder of the importance of communication—and perhaps not underestimating your partner’s sense of humor.
